🌕 Lion's Gate Tea Ceremony: Coming Home

Last year, when Lion's Gate came around, I didn't stay home. I asked myself, where do I want to go? The answer was Lyons, Colorado, a little mountain town I'd always passed on the way to Estes Park but never stopped in. No plan. Just an open road, Kundalini music, and a labyrinth calling my name.

I found a gathering I didn't know existed, a farmers market, a stranger's face I read on instinct, a labyrinth I walked with my feet in the river. It was magic. It was exactly what that Lion's Gate needed to be.

This year is different. This year, I don't want to go anywhere. I want to be exactly where I am, in my garden, pouring tea, calling you into community with me.

Last year I went looking for the portal. This year, I'm opening one at home.

🕊️ Why Tea, Why Now

In Chinese medicine, there's a concept called Shen, the spirit, often pictured as a dove. In times of chaos, the dove flees. It's the perfect image for what happens to our nervous system when life gets loud: we scatter. We leave our bodies. We stop hearing ourselves.

The Shen only returns when we get still.

That's what this ceremony is. Not a performance, not an aesthetic, a return. A way back to the shen, back to yourself, back to the version of you that isn't reacting to noise.

🍵 Four+ Years of This Practice

I've been steeped in this ritual for four years now. Three years ago, on August 8, I launched this ceremony publicly for the first time. Eight people sat with me that day.

This year, everything is different. I've moved into a new home with a garden that feels like it was waiting for this exact purpose. We'll sit outside, feel the softeness of the morning sun, wind move through, hear the birds do what birds do when they're not afraid. It felt right to bring you here, into the space I once had to travel to find.

🌿 What This Ceremony Holds

This isn't just tea. It's a ritual for:

• Community — coming back to each other, not just yourself
• Creativity — the stillness where new ideas actually land
• Prosperity — the kind that flows when you're not white-knuckling life
