Hiya Reader,
Still feeling like 2026 hasn’t quite landed for you? You’re not late—just on a different calendar.
I’m writing this message to help you land in 2026 on your rhythm and find your Word of the Year. I'm becoming more of a taoist every year, I talk in circles. 🫠 I hope you get the duality of this email and use what right for you at this time.
Here’s a fun fact: you actually get 5 chances to celebrate a new year.
**Jan 1st (the Gregorian pick)
**Imbolc (early Feb — a Celtic little-spark-of-spring)
**Lunar New Year (2/17)
**Spring Equinox
**April 1st. Some pope or king decided new years should be Jan 1st. Some obeyed this and some did not. The ones who did said, “Only fools celebrate new years on April 1st.” Hence we have April fools day.
So if Jan 1 didn’t fit, pick the reset that feels right for your soul and your season. I know this year started with many explosions…its still the year of the snake with a couple of more “shedding.” The lunar new year, year of the fire horse doesn’t begin til Feb 17th.
I’m giving you permission to decide when you want to celebrate—so why not celebrate it all?
Each time, pick a word of the year to anchor it. It’s kinda a thing each year to pick a word to represent the year for you. I’ve been doing this for about 10 years.
This year my word is “Relaxed Studiness.” Last year was Resonance. Other’s have been: align, flow, attention, devotion. Years build on years—give yourself permission to arrive at this word through April. When you get your word, share it with me by replying to this email. I’ll help you direct it with aligned actions.
My wise friend Julie wrote something that might help you loosen the “have-to-know” pressure and resist social norms. Julie had an incredibly hard year (her 20-year-old faced cancer, among other things), so maybe her perspective will land for you too.
My lessons from 2025
I normally have a word or a statement going into a new year, but last year there wasn’t anything going into this one. I tried to create one, and brought words up that I thought was expected of me. But deep down nothing was resonating. It was obviously the year that I wasn’t meant to have anything, because the universe was going to shape it in a different direction. So as I look back on the year, and think about the next one, here is my year in reflection ..
- Despite everything and a tough market, we had one of our best years in real estate. There was always a “Reddington” in Denver — work became a beautiful way to shape the day and give purpose. People say running your own business is like “killing your own meat” — we did the hard work, survived, and it also gave us the flexibility to travel back and forth when needed.
- I continued to run the amazing Polka Dot Powerhouse Highlands Ranch chapter and even earned an incentive trip to Hawaii. I couldn’t go (life took over), but I was so proud to achieve that milestone two years after taking on the chapter.
- The universe showed up with wild synchronicities. While we wouldn’t have chosen the lessons we were given, there’s real excitement ahead.
- Alex is a warrior.
- Isabelle is a warrior — quietly steady and stoic in the background, holding space.
Final thoughts -
Health: I truly believe there’s a plan for us, no matter what. Be sensible, not punitive. Don’t deny yourself life’s joys unless your body is genuinely asking for change — not because society says you should. Drink the wine. Eat the chocolate. Ditch Dry January if it doesn’t serve you.
-Do you, and drop the guilt.
- Showing up is where success lives.
- Don’t assume or write the story for others.
- You always have a choice in how you respond.
- Ask. Closed mouths don’t get fed.
- “Busy” is a choice (and often an excuse). If someone is too busy for you, you aren’t their priority.
- We waste too much energy worrying about what others think. Everyone’s wrapped up in their own stuff—so just bloody do it.
- If the energy feels off, change the room. The people around you matter. - Feeling stuck? You are not a tree. Move.
No official word for me going into 2026, apart from: make it a good, purposeful one. Life is for living.
Join me to celebrate New Years on Saturday 2/7, in a different way, a tea ceremony. This gathering is not about fixing or striving.
It’s about community, stillness, and beginning the year rooted in inner knowing.
If you’re longing for a slower, more intentional way to welcome the new year—one that includes ritual, reflection, and meaningful connection, I would love to have you with us.
Save your seat HERE.
