๐ฆถ The Day My Little Orange Dolly Broke My Foot
Today's Lineup:
- How a fold-up dolly turned into an overnight stay at St. Joe's ๐ฅ
- The card I pulled from my hospital bed, and the one waiting for you ๐
- How to book with me while I heal, plus a holiday gift idea ๐
Hi Reader,
On October 17th my little orange fold-up dolly fell on my foot while we were moving everything out for the new washer and dryer. Sixteen days later I was on an ER bed at St. Joe's in my heated jacket, my beanie and my eye mask, and I want to tell you how I got there. (Monday Night) (5 MIN VIDEO)
โ๐ The 3 a.m. Nudge-Wednesday
The doctor had started me on antibiotics, and by day 2 my foot was worse.
I'd been awake since 3 a.m. with it throbbing, there was a white ring around the wound, the purple had deepened, and I was crawling around the house with a cane just to reach the bathroom. One voice said give it another day. The quieter one in my gut said go.
My body remembers my finger infection in July and my Crohn's stays at St. Joe's, so I listened. Chris, Bella's dad, drove me in, and my gut picked the ER over urgent care. They could do an x-ray right there, and it showed the dolly had fractured a bone on top of the infection, which finally explained all that throbbing. I stayed the night in a room with a window and the bathroom right next to me. (2 MINUTES)
โ๐ผAlways Claim Your Frequency & Update!
I had claimed walking ease as my frequency for the day, and when the x-ray showed a broken bone on top of the infection, I got frustrated, because nothing about it looked like walking ease. Then it started showing...They moved me to the observation room in the ER, which had a sitting lounge, a walking chair that gave me balance, and a bathroom five feet away instead of down a hallway.
๐ The Card That Made Me Laugh Out Loud
Once I was settled in my room and could breathe, I went to my website and pulled a card for the day. It was Wheelchair Dance, card 37 of 44. "Your dance is yours, exactly as you are. Every body is a dancing body."
The deck had already handed me two others that day. Twist, from the morning I crossed the house on one leg, and Sit This One Out, from that night in the hospital bed: "Rest is part of the rhythm. Watch, breathe, and rejoin when you're ready." I laughed out loud, because I couldn't have made that up.
I posted about it as it was happening, with nothing polished, and one of those posts passed 5,000 views. My friend Andrew offered me his knee scooter and he so kindly picked me up at the hospital with it.
My landlord has a walking chair waiting at my door for when I got home. A shift in energy is always followed by a shift in reality.
Now it's your turn, Reader. Take three slow breaths, hold a question like "How can I move through this?" and pull your card. Then move with its message, even if it's only a little sway in your chair. ๐
๐ก How to Book With Me While I Heal
I'm in a boot on my right foot, which means I can't drive.
My goal for the season was to do more face reading events and space clearings. I have to pivot that. My focus is going to have to be on my face readings, teeth whitening, or events/workshops in my home. I can also do the face readings and events over Zoom for anyone who can't make it to my home.
Events and space clearings
I can still do events and clearings, though some may land a little later depending on how my recovery goes. I have to be OFF my feet for estimated 2 months. We'll find a date that works for you.
๐ A gift that doesn't come in a box
The holidays are close, and a gift can be an experience instead of a thing. Think of a Chinese Face Reading, a home space clearing or a tea ceremony for the people you love. Gift certificates are good for future services, so you can give one now and we'll pick the date together once I'm back on my feet.
Always choose the higher frequency. In the chaos, there is creativity.
When I got out of the hospital last year with my Crohn's, a friend actually started a spotfund for me. This was a big swallow because I have a hard time asking and receiving. It is still a big lesson.
I started a spotfund for this. If you have room to spare, I know it's a tough time, any amount would help make it off of my feet. The amount Iโm asking covers basic needs like rent, bills, groceries, transportation/drivers and card payments.
It does take a fee, and so if you prefer to do Venmo or Zelle, that works just as well.
Thank you for walking, and limping, through this season with me, and for your patience while I heal. If your body keeps nudging you about something, let a doctor take a look and let your gut have the last word.
